In-Home Pet Hospice Care
INITIAL HOSPICE CONSULTATION $450 — limited to availability
When your pet has been diagnosed with an incurable disease or is near their natural end of life, Peaceful Promise can provide compassionate, in-home hospice care that focuses on relieving their pain and symptoms. The goal with hospice care is to provide your pet with the best comfort to allow them to live as fully as possible until it is time to say goodbye.
Dr. Cate will start by reviewing prior veterinary records (if available) and discuss your pet's current condition to determine if they are a candidate for in-home hospice care. She will then schedule a physical examination and evaluate their quality of life in your home. She will discuss the primary concerns of your pet's condition and identify your hospice goals, so that she may best provide guidance for hospice care.
Dr. Cate will create a custom hospice treatment plan, focusing on pain management, optimizing nutrition, adjunctive therapies, and/or assisting with mobility. She will discuss how you can continue to evaluate your pet's quality of life at home during hospice care, as well as support you through any concerns you may have along the way. Most pets in hospice care live for about 1-3 months, but this can be variable. Hospice care can be continued as long as it is needed.
The initial hospice consultation includes a month of weekly follow-up phone calls to adjust therapies as needed. After the initial month of hospice, you may choose to continue their monthly care with Dr. Cate at a discounted rate. This includes a monthly home visit and continued monitoring of your pet’s condition.
In-home pet hospice care through Peaceful Promise Veterinary Hospice is limited to Livingston County at this time.
